Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Neonatal Care Duration: Full-time Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years of previous experience in special care nursing of newborns License: Currently licensed to practice professional nursing in Massachusetts Certifications: BLS Healthcare Provider, NRP Must-Have: Experience in high-risk deliveries and Level-2 nursery Description: The Registered Nurse is responsible for utilizing the nursing process to provide comprehensive care appropriate to neonates during high-risk deliveries and in a Level-2 nursery. Nursing care is provided in accordance with the stated philosophy and standards established by the Nursing Service Department, regulatory agencies, and professional organizations. The Registered Nurse is accountable for the safety of nursing care they deliver or supervise. The Registered Nurse is responsible to the patient and the family or significant others for the quality of direct and indirect nursing care delivered. The position reports to the Director of Obstetrical Nursing or designee. The Registered Nurse assures the safety of the patient population served by demonstrating age-appropriate skills in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care. The Registered Nurse develops, implements, evaluates, and modifies plans of nursing care for patients and families. The Registered Nurse manages, directs, and supervises the practice of nursing, including the delegation of selected activities to unlicensed assistive personnel within their scope of practice. The Registered Nurse attends appropriate in-service and continuing education programs commensurate with job responsibilities. The Registered Nurse participates in unit/hospital projects, which seek to improve patient care. The Registered Nurse represents the organization in a professional manner in their interaction with others. The Registered Nurse maintains communication with interdisciplinary practitioners to meet care objectives. The Registered Nurse provides patient and family teaching as appropriate. The Registered Nurse coordinates activities of multiple disciplines to meet the plan of care. The Registered Nurse documents plan findings and evaluation according to policy. The Registered Nurse assumes responsibility for attendance according to policy. The Registered Nurse meets requirements for mandatory in-services and programs for safety, emergency, and competency. The Registered Nurse supports the development of staff through mentoring, preceptorship, and collegiality. The Registered Nurse performs job functions specific to the area. The Registered Nurse will be required to provide coverage for the Mother/Baby unit and Labor and Delivery.
