License: Registered Nurse License Certifications: BLS, NRPS Must-Have: Must be comfortable in a high acuity, fast-paced environment. Description: RN - Neonatal ICU position available. The facility has 247 licensed beds and a level 1 pediatric trauma center. This is a teaching hospital with a chest pain center and certified stroke center. The unit consists of 53 beds plus overflow, with an average patient census of 58. Patient types include: Respiratory: Respiratory Distress Syndrome, Transient Tachypnea of the Newborn, Meconium Aspiration Syndrome, Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia, etc. Cardiac: Congenital Heart Defects, Patent Ductus Arteriosus, Persistent Pulmonary Hypertension of the Newborn, etc. Neuro: Seizures, Intraventricular Hemorrhage, Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy. GI/GU/Musculoskeletal/Endocrine: Necrotizing Enterocolitis, Feeding Intolerance, Gastroesophageal Reflux, Acute/Chronic Renal Failure, Birth Trauma, Congenital Anomalies, Sepsis, Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome, TORCH infections, Hypothermia, Hypoglycemia, etc. Patient ratios vary based on acuity: 1:1, 1:2, 1:3. Support within the department includes a unit secretary every shift, charge nurse available 24/7, IV/Vascular Access Team, Resource Nurse, Intensivist, in-house residents, and unit-based educators. Technology used includes EMR: EPIC, IV Pump: Alaris and Medfusion syringe pumps, Med Dispensing: Omnicell, Monitors: Phillips, with equipment like PIV Ultrasound and Tecotherm. Weekend rotation is required, including working 2 Fridays and 2 Mondays, plus every other weekend. Holiday expectations require working either the Eve and/or Day after the holiday and every other holiday while contracted. Travelers are expected to have minimal requests for time off. Dress code requires navy scrubs, and a solid color long-sleeve shirt if needed. Practice guidelines maintain no watches, permanent jewelry, rings, or artificial nails.
