ID: 64206639 Shift: Night Night: 3x 12hr shifts 3x12 Hr Description: "Rural OB/GYN dept. Staff provide care for antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, gyn, nursery Level I and II. If such is not available will be good with experienced labor/delivery. A Registered Nurse is a health care professional skilled in all phases of the nursing process. The RN is adaptable to the needs of the family unit during health and illness and has ability to prioritize. The RN assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates daily patient care, and is responsible for the direction of personnel assigned to them. The RN will provide professional nursing care for patients in labor, delivery, postpartum, Nursery I, Nursery II, antepartum, and Gynecology patients according to the established standards and practices.-Performs all responsibilities and duties required by unit as specific to the scope of service.-Implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice.-Maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to assure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team.-Completes initial assessment upon patient admission and develops appropriate plan of care in accordance with unit standards and that is based on patient and family needs.-Implements plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures.-Modifies plan of care based upon continuous evaluation.-Takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents.-Communicates with others directly and in private when necessary to resolve issues.-Offers constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers, and confers with colleagues to expand knowledge base.-Identifies own learning needs and takes initiative to begin appropriate solution.-Fulfills all requirements of departmental competencies.-Recognizes norms for population receiving care, therefore, can recognize the abnormal and report them to physician.-Assists with orientation, instruction/training, and supervision of staff members as assigned.-Performs proper procedure for use of fetal heart monitor (external/internal).-Performs proper technique for doing vaginal exams; able to assess position, dilation, and station.-Understands the principles, administration, maintenance, and adverse effects to toxolytic agents in antepartum patients.-Performs comfort measures as needed for the patient.-Efficient in the role of circulating nurse for vaginal delivery.-Participates in the transferring of maternal patients to other facilities per ambulance.-Instructs patients in skills of peri-care, breast care, proper diets, and post-delivery/surgical activity."
