Key Responsibilities of the Travel Nurse
- Provide high-quality, evidence-based care to mothers and babies during the postpartum period.
- Monitor the physical and emotional well-being of both mother and baby, including assessing vital signs, breastfeeding, wound healing, and general well-being.
- Administer medications, as prescribed, and ensure accurate documentation.
- Educate mothers on postpartum care, breastfeeding techniques, infant care, and promote newborn safety.
- Provide emotional support and reassurance to new mothers, as they adjust to motherhood.
- Assist with newborn screenings and tests.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to provide comprehensive care.
- Communicate effectively with families, physicians, and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care.
- Monitor and respond to changes in the mother or baby's condition and report any concerns to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation.
Qualifications of the Travel Nurse
- Active RN license (Virgina or compact state)
- BLS, ACLS, NRP and AWHONN certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of recent Mother & Baby experience
