Job Title

Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 12-Hour Shifts | 36 or 48 Hours Per Week | Every Other Weekend Required

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care for a medical-surgical population including patients with orthopedic trauma, traumatic brain injuries, spine injuries, subdural hematomas, and neurological conditions
  • Manage heparin drips, PCA, blood product administration, and central/peripheral/PICC line care
  • Perform wound care, colostomy care, feeding tube management, chest tube management, tracheostomy management, and oral suctioning
  • Monitor and manage cardiac dysrhythmias, oxygen protocols, and non-invasive airway management
  • Document patient care accurately using Epic; utilize Pyxis and SBAR communication standards
  • Float to similar units and alternate care locations as needed; participate in storm, hurricane, or disaster response teams as assigned
Required Qualifications
  • Active RN license (NC or Compact)
  • Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical RN experience within the last 5 years
  • BLS certification required
  • Proficiency with Epic electronic health record documentation
  • Ability to manage patient ratios of 1:6–7
  • Must pass EKG testing prior to start
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • ACLS certification and proficiency in dysrhythmia interpretation
  • Experience with pre/post hemodialysis management and drip management
  • Background in CVA, pre/post neurosurgery, or spinal cord injury care
