THE ROLE

Our client, an acute care hospital organisation, is seeking a Director of Nursing for the Inpatient Med Surg / Telemetry service line on a full-time permanent basis in Tucson, Arizona. The Director provides leadership and operational support to the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), assuming 24/7 accountability for all assigned nursing units. The role is responsible for assessing, planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating nursing practice at a multi-unit level, ensuring high-quality, safe, and appropriate patient care, clinical staff competency, and appropriate resource management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide leadership and operational support to the CNO across all assigned nursing and patient care functions
  • Assume 24/7 accountability for assigned inpatient units, including Med Surg and Telemetry
  • Assess, plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing practice at a multi-unit level
  • Ensure high-quality, safe, and appropriate nursing care across all assigned areas
  • Maintain competency standards for clinical staff and oversee resource management related to patient care
  • Serve as a role model and advocate for the professional discipline of nursing
  • Maintain active communication and interpersonal effectiveness across clinical and administrative teams

REQUIREMENTS

Must-Have

Active and current Registered Nurse (RN) licence in the state of Arizona in good standing

Associate degree from an accredited nursing school with a bachelor s degree in a healthcare-related field, OR BSN

Minimum 2 years of progressive management experience in a hospital environment as a manager, director, or full-time charge nurse / related position

CPR certification current

Must meet all licensure, certification, and registration requirements as required by law and regulation in state of practice
