Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Full-Time | Onsite | 12-Hour Rotating Shifts (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM / PM equivalent) | Every other weekend required | Holidays rotate with regular staff

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical unit serving a diverse patient population including chest pain, CHF, pneumonia, abdominal pain, pancreatitis, orthopedic, detox, post-operative, and pediatric patients
  • Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of no more than 1:5, working alongside LPNs and nurse aides
  • Document telemetry strip readings faxed from the ICU monitoring team accurately and in a timely manner
  • Manage and assist with respiratory therapy equipment including CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen in coordination with the RT team
  • Float to other units as needed to serve as a tasker or additional support
  • Participate in unit-specific orientation including medication technology, pharmacy, and lab training over a 3–5 day onboarding period
Required Qualifications
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Current, valid BLS certification
  • Current NIHSS certification
  • Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records system
  • Strong Medical Surgical background with experience managing a high variety of patient diagnoses
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • ACLS and/or PALS certification (recommended but not required)
  • Experience working in a unit that serves both adult and pediatric Medical Surgical populations
  • Comfort with floating and adapting to varying unit needs
