Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical

Lincoln, NE

Contract | Days | Onsite | Shifts: 0630–1900 and 1830–0700 | Weekend and holiday availability required as needed

• Provide direct patient care on a 42-bed Medical Surgical unit serving medical, surgical, and orthopedic patient populations
• Manage a patient assignment of 1:5–6, with nurse aide support at a 1:10–12 ratio
• Administer and monitor titratable Heparin drips as indicated; collaborate with 24-hour on-floor Respiratory Therapy staff for respiratory equipment needs
• Monitor patients via telemetry, utilizing both bedside and centralized telemetry station resources
• Float to PCU or Burn units as required based on staffing needs
• Adhere to all unit dress code and infection control policies, including artificial nail prohibition in patient care areas

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Valid driver's license required at time of submittal
• Ability to pass a unit-specific open-book skills examination with a minimum score of 90% during orientation
• Willingness to comply with artificial nail prohibition policy in all patient care settings

• Prior experience in a Medical Surgical, PCU, or orthopedic nursing environment
• Familiarity with telemetry monitoring and Heparin drip management
• Experience working in high-census environments with variable patient ratios

• Work in a well-supported unit with charge nurse coverage on every shift, dedicated nurse aide assistance, and 24-hour Respiratory Therapy on the floor
• Structured orientation program including classroom training followed by supervised floor shifts to set you up for success
