Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a 30-bed Medical Surgical unit with a 1:4–5 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Care for post-operative patients including hip/knee, mastectomy, and abdominal surgery cases
- Administer and monitor drips including PCA and Heparin
- Float across multiple campuses as required
- Document patient care accurately using EPIC electronic medical records
- Participate in holiday coverage as required by unit scheduling needs
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 24 months of Medical Surgical experience in a hospital or medical center setting
- PCA and Heparin administration experience
- Proficiency with EPIC electronic medical records
- Active Iowa RN license or active Compact/Multistate RN license
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
- Valid Driver's License
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Post-operative surgical nursing experience
- Patient care experience with hip/knee, mastectomy, and abdominal surgery populations
- Professional reference from a charge nurse, supervisor, nurse manager, or director within the past 24 months
