Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 5 years License: Pending license accepted Certifications: BCLS, ACLS required Must-Have: Will need to pass Relias EKG exam. Description: Can sign for 36 or 48 hours per week. RN/MS - Trauma. Ratios: 1:4-6. Weekend requirement: every other weekend. On-call requirement: No. Clinicians will float within the scope to meet facility needs. Block scheduling: Not open to accommodating. Local candidates accepted: No, with a 75-mile radius rule. RTO restrictions: No more than 7 days of RTO per 13-week contract. If a shift is missed, work to make up as soon as possible if able. Required skills include Med/Surg, blood product administration, peripheral line care/management, phlebotomy, starting IVs, insulin management, PCA, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injury, ortho trauma, and total joint replacements. Experience with surgical drains, chest tubes, CPAP/BiPAP, and wound care is necessary. Patient diagnoses come from emergency departments, operating rooms, or ICUs. Services on the unit include care for geriatric trauma patients aged 55 and older, abuse/violence victims, and post-operative care for appendicitis, gallbladders, and hernia repairs. Special equipment includes lifts, restraints, wound vacs, traction, and external fixators. Type of facility: Short-term acute care. Facility characteristics include being a Magnet & teaching hospital and a Level I Trauma Center. Total staffed beds: 1,266. Charting system: EPIC. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretary. Daily patient census ranges between 50-55. There are 63 total beds within the unit. Travelers must have facial hair that allows for proper fit testing or must be willing to shave. No exceptions to this requirement.
