Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Nursing Duration: 8 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years required, 5 years preferred License: RN license required Certifications: CPR, BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, EKG required Must-Have: Travel experience required Description: Provides professional nursing care to assigned patients utilizing the nursing process within established standards and practices. Assesses and reassesses young adult, adult, and elderly patients. Applies the nursing process to cardiac monitoring and intervention, sedation, pain management, chest tube care and insertion, medication administration, pre and post cardiac catheterization care, TPN/PPN, KODA access, central lines, COBRA, specialized IV drips and titration, IV therapy, IVADD waive testing, and transfusion therapy. Evaluates outcomes, consults with specialists as required, and adjusts nursing care processes to ensure optimal patient care. Performs head-to-toe assessments on all patients and re-assessments as per policy. Provides individualized, age-specific care to support homeostatic regulation, hemodynamic monitoring, and physiological functioning. Maintains accurate and continued nursing documentation including patient histories, conditions, treatments, responses, and assessment of changes. Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity while maintaining patient confidentiality. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs of patients and families. Functions as a patient advocate. Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development principles over the lifespan and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care. Interprets data about patient status to identify age-specific needs. Involves patients and families in creating an individualized and mutually agreed-upon plan of care. Reviews, revises, updates, and resolves plans of care daily. Formulates teaching plans based on identified learning needs and evaluates the effectiveness of learning. Includes family in teaching as appropriate. Supervises other healthcare staff involved in patient care. Allocates and monitors the work of others. Assists physicians with procedures in the department. Responds promptly to changes in workload to achieve optimal productivity and efficiency. Participates in developing, implementing, and evaluating performance improvement activities to improve patient outcomes and processes. Functions as a preceptor to orient new employees. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
