Care is provided according to the philosophy and goals of the Department of Nursing. The RN utilizes caring principles, relationship-based care, and a professional nursing practice model. The RN assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care for all patients assigned. The RN determines the progress of the patient toward goals. The RN utilizes a therapeutic professional relationship with the patient, family, and interdisciplinary team. Care promotes, maintains, and restores health according to the specific needs of each patient. The RN supports the mission, vision, values, and standards of excellence of the organization. Competency is demonstrated through the ability to apply scientific knowledge from social, biological, and physical sciences. The nursing process includes ongoing assessment of the patient's physical and psychosocial condition. The RN formulates a nursing diagnosis through observation of the client's condition and behavior, and through information obtained.
