Job Title: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required License: Valid RN License required Certifications: BCLS, NIH required Must-Have: - Minimum 2 years of RN experience - Current RN License - Certifications should be via the American Heart Association Description: The medical surgical unit is a dynamic 34-bed unit dedicated to providing exceptional care for patients with a wide range of acute medical conditions. The team of experienced nurses collaborates closely to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in a challenging yet rewarding environment. Staffing includes registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, clinical assistants, unit clerks, and patient care technicians working together to provide exceptional care. Utilization of an acuity tool optimizes patient assignments and ensures appropriate staffing levels. Clinical nurse coordinators provide leadership on every shift, facilitating daily huddles and managing patient flow. The nurse manager maintains a strong presence, engaging with staff and patients daily. Patient ratios range from 1:5 to 1:7. Specialties include BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, central line care, and telemetry monitoring. Additional skills include interpretation of arterial blood gases and wound care management. The unit collaborates with interdisciplinary support teams, including IV teams, physical therapy, and social services, to enhance patient care outcomes. The unit experiences an average daily census of 30 patients. Candidates must have a permanent address greater than 100 miles from the facility for submission. This position requires the ability to work weekends, with a minimum of 3 weekend shifts within a 4-week schedule period. Attendance expectations emphasize limited call-offs.
