Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Observation Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM Experience: Minimum one (1) year of relevant nursing experience License: Illinois state RN License in good standing Certifications: BLS (American Heart Assoc.) Must-Have: - Strong understanding of nursing processes and documentation - Ability to develop and implement patient care plans - Competence in patient assessment and IV site management Description: The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver responsible for a group of patients for a designated time frame. The RN provides care to these patients utilizing the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, and available resources. Performs all responsibilities and duties required by the specific unit. Implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice. Maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided. Completes initial assessments upon patient admission. Develops appropriate plans of care based on patient and family needs. Implements the plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. Modifies the plan of care based on continuous evaluation. Takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting safety hazards. Communicates directly and privately to resolve issues when necessary. Offers constructive feedback to assist in professional development of peers. Confers with colleagues to expand knowledge base. Identifies personal learning needs and takes initiative for solutions. Fulfills all requirements of departmental competencies. Assesses IV sites every 4 hours. Starts new IVs according to policy. Maintains documentation standards as evidenced by quarterly chart audits. Must attend 5 out of 6 staff meetings per year. Identifies changes in patient status and responds appropriately.
