Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Active IL License required Certifications: BLS Must-Have: Strong clinical skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, teamwork-oriented attitude, and flexibility in scheduling. Description: The position requires a focus on patient care within a medical surgical setting. The unit has a total of 37 beds, including private and semi-private rooms. The nurse-to-patient ratio on the night shift is 1 to 5-6. Expected case types include COPD, sepsis, CVA, COVID, pneumonia, and various surgical procedures. Nurses may handle patients requiring telemonitoring, with support from a central monitoring tech. The unit does not manage ventilated patients but may care for individuals using BiPAP, CPAP, or high flow oxygen. Nurses will participate in a self-scheduling process, accommodating every other weekend requirement. Floating to another unit may occur, provided the nurse has the necessary competencies. Charge nurses are typically available around the clock and may assist with patient assignments as needed. Registered Nurses are supported by nurse aides within the unit. The pharmacy and respiratory therapy services are available 24/7. The organization maintains a drug-free environment and upholds professional conduct standards. Nurses must be prepared to work holidays based on scheduling needs. No specific scrub color is mandated, but approved logo gear is permitted. Orientation includes unit-specific training and electronic medical record systems familiarization.
