Provides patient care based on established standards of care and practice. Respects each patient as an individual and fosters a sense of dignity. Delivers patient and family education based on identified learning needs and barriers. Plans and prepares patients and families for discharge, incorporating necessary support systems. Delegates and supervises nursing interventions performed by others appropriately. Prioritizes patient care effectively by seeking assistance when needed. Documents all pertinent data, therapeutic interventions, and patient responses accurately. Provides thorough and timely reports on assigned patients to other healthcare team members. Promotes ongoing learning for colleagues and self through various professional development activities. Identifies risks to patient safety and opportunities to reduce healthcare errors. Recognizes and addresses ethical issues in care. Administers medications and intravenous therapy safely according to physician orders. Assesses patient pain levels and reassesses effectiveness of pain control measures. Documents medication reconciliation supporting information accurately. Interprets and documents cardiac rhythms and initiates appropriate treatment plans. Provides ongoing assessment and education to surgical patients and their families. Recognizes normal and abnormal progress patterns and reports concerns to the physician promptly. Utilizes pain management devices and techniques to ensure proper pain relief. Sets up, maintains, and troubleshoots equipment related to surgical patient care.
