Job Title: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 1 year License: Current RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or a current multistate compact RN License Certifications: Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association Must-Have: Medical surgical experience and charge experience preferred Description: Under general supervision, provides nursing care to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients. Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments. Notes all changes in physician orders for assigned patients. Assists the physician in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatments. Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients. Observes the physiological manifestations of patients and intervenes when necessary. Administers medication as prescribed. Initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products. Delivers patient care competently. Interacts with patients and families in sharing care plans during their hospital stay and at the time of discharge. Informs patients and families of hospital procedures. Makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel. Delegates tasks to support staff. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Skills & Experience: Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures. Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services. Ability to maintain good working relationships with other employees. Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to respond effectively to the cultural and language needs of patients and visitors. Some computer skills are required. Preferred Skills & Experience: No specific preferred skills listed. Required Education: Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program. Preferred Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing or higher from a board-approved program.
