Job Title: Registered Nurse - Centralized Registry Float Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, including at least 1 year of MedSurg experience at a large facility (600+ beds) License: Indiana RN license or compact RN license required Certifications: BLS through AHA required Must-Have: Candidate must have at least 1.5 years of Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary experience. Candidates returning within 12 months of their last worked date will not be eligible for non-billable orientation. Description: We are seeking a Registered Nurse for a centralized registry float position in a medical surgical setting. The nurse will work 12-hour shifts from 3 AM to 3 PM. The department cares for a diverse population of patients with varying diagnoses, including chronic illnesses such as COPD, Diabetes, and CHF. Patients also present with GI issues like pancreatitis and inflammatory bowel diseases. Infections such as pneumonia, cellulitis, and sepsis will also be managed. Neurological issues such as stroke and dementia are part of patient care as well. Additionally, mental health disorders, including depression and anxiety, will be encountered. The nurse may assist with various procedures such as colonoscopies and minor surgeries. General medical surgical nursing care skills will be required. Tasks include assessments, care planning, and inter-professional communication. Utilization of electronic health records and various medical equipment is necessary. The patient-to-nurse ratio will typically be 1:5-6. Dress code includes Caribbean blue scrubs. The nurse may float to other medical units as needed.
