Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (18:45 - 07:15) Experience: Minimum 1 year required License: Active IL license required Certifications: BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: PICC line management and experience with starting IVs required. Previous charge experience preferred. Cerner experience preferred. Description: Position is for a Med Surg RN. The shift is nights with a start time of 18:45. This is a 23-bed unit. Minimum one year of experience is required. First-time travelers are accepted. The role includes working every other weekend. No on-call requirement. Clinicians may float as needed within their scope to meet facility needs. Open to accommodating block scheduling; connect with the management to discuss schedule requests. No radius restrictions for local candidates. Ideal RTO is no more than 5 days. Candidates may be called off for up to 36 hours during the assignment without coverage of those shifts. If greater cancellations occur, coverage may be provided. If candidates are placed on-call instead of being called off, it will count as a called-off shift. The unit handles patients with ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, TIAs, subdural hematomas, brain masses, seizures, back and neck surgeries, craniotomies, and neurological disorders. Medications used include levetiracetam, lorazepam, aspirin, lovenox, heparin, antihypertensives, plavix, atorvastatin, and eliquis. Special procedures in the unit may include electroencephalograms (EEG) and lumbar punctures. The unit utilizes IV drips, including heparin. Amiodarone and lasix are not titrated. Candidates must possess the ability to work effectively in a sensitive environment. Timely completion of compliance needs is necessary for the duration of the contract. Candidates must work two out of three major holidays. Floating is a requirement for all. Experience with charting systems, specifically Cerner, is preferred. The ability to work effectively with varying patient populations, including adults and geriatrics, is crucial. Candidates must be able to demonstrate strong clinical skills and effective communication.
