Job Summary
Join a dedicated nursing team in Carbondale, Illinois, on a dynamic Medical-Surgical unit primarily focused on surgical patients, with occasional medical patient overflow to meet community needs. This 35-private room unit is equipped with two nurses' stations, fostering an environment of collaborative care.
As a Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse, you will provide comprehensive patient care, supported by a shift supervisor and patient care technicians available on each shift. The night shift maintains a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:5-6, ensuring focused and quality care delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, including assessments, medication administration, and treatment plans for a diverse patient population, primarily surgical with some medical overlap.
- Monitor patient conditions, interpret vital signs, and document all patient interactions and interventions accurately in the electronic health record.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, interdisciplinary team members, and support staff (including Patient Care Technicians and Shift Supervisors) to ensure coordinated and holistic patient care.
- Educate patients and their families on health conditions, treatment plans, and post-discharge care instructions.
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, adhering to all hospital policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Experience in a Medical-Surgical setting: Not specified.

Shift Details
