Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required. License: Active nursing license required. Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS required. Must-Have: Previous charge experience is preferred. Patient ratio experience: 6 patients per nurse. Charting system experience: Required experience with Epic. Description: The position requires a registered nurse to work in a medical surgical setting with a focus on oncology. Candidates must have a minimum of two years of nursing experience. Experience with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 6 is expected. Familiarity with charting using the Epic system is mandatory. The role involves accessing and managing ports, administration of blood and blood products, and care coordination. Nurses will also manage central lines, chest tubes, and administer various medications, including chemotherapy and antivirals. Additional responsibilities include patient and family education, monitoring and managing side effects of treatments, and providing hospice care as needed. Strong skills in dealing with sepsis, dysrhythmias, and wound care are essential. Interdisciplinary support will be available from various teams, including physical therapy and pharmacy. Candidates should be comfortable with patient diagnoses such as sepsis, pneumonia, and anemia. Candidates must be prepared for weekend coverage as needed.
