This is a 225-bed specialty care hospital. The facility offers a Heart & Vascular Institute, Cancer Center, Brain & Spine, Rehab, Behavioral Health, Digestive Health, Bariatric Medicine & Weight Management, Women's Health, and Pediatrics. The facility provides the region's premier imaging, surgery, and laboratory services. The community is located in the central region of Michigan's upper peninsula. It is the largest community in the peninsula and is home to a university. Unit Information: The role involves working in an observation unit with a trauma level of 2. There are 10 beds in the unit. Patient ratios are approximately 1:5, with no defined ratios. The equipment used includes cardiac monitors. The electronic health records system is Cerner. The supervisor is the ED Director. The patient population is adult only (18 years and older). Additional Notes: Weekend and holiday work is required. Floating to medical, cardiac, neuro-ortho units is required. There are no guarantees on block scheduling. Common diagnoses include chest pain, asthma exacerbations, TIAs, abdominal pain, urinary issues, blood sugar issues, DVT/PE, cellulitis, post-procedural monitoring, and minor trauma. The dress code requires galaxy blue scrubs. All agency staff assignments have specific attendance policies. A formal warning will be issued after the second absence, with potential termination after the third absence if prior discussions are not made. Make-up shifts are required to maintain contracted hours. The facility will not be responsible for any early termination fees if an agency staff member is released from their contract for just cause.
