Knowledge and compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and guidelines relating to facility care will be maintained. This position requires basic medical/surgical knowledge to care for general surgical and orthopedic surgical patients. Interpersonal skills are needed to communicate successfully with individuals and groups. The nurse will interact with people at all levels to communicate ideas and concepts in a clear and understandable manner. Responsibilities include regularly assessing patient's needs and providing skilled nursing services as prescribed by the physician authorized plan of care and accepted standards of nursing practice. The nurse will provide direct patient care, including medication administration, treatments, and assisting with transfers. Evaluating the effectiveness of the treatment plan and making suggestions or participating in updating/revising the treatment plan in collaboration with other team members is required. The nurse will process physician orders and perform physician-ordered care accurately and in a timely manner. Following up on medication changes and order clarifications is also part of the role.
