Registered Nurse - MedSurg
Location: Oakes, ND
Start Date: 05-04-2026
Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Rotating nights, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM (12-hour shifts). Manager-scheduled with block scheduling options; every 3rd weekend and holiday rotation; may float to the ER as needed.
Hours per Week: 36
Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and document findings accurately in MEDITECH
- Administer medications and manage infusion pumps safely and competently
- Titrate drips per protocol (e.g., Insulin, Heparin, Levophed) and manage set‑rate infusions like Amiodarone
- Interpret telemetry strips (Mindray monitors) and act promptly on abnormalities
- Provide respiratory care including high-flow, CPAP/BiPAP management and support with the Hamilton C1 ventilator as needed
- Collaborate with CNAs, PCTs and interdisciplinary staff to coordinate care and ensure patient safety
- Support charge nurse and float to the ER when staffing needs require flexibility
- Participate in unit orientation and ongoing quality and safety initiatives
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma accepted — BSN not required
Knowledge & Skills
- Patient assessments and clinical judgment in med-surg settings
- Infusion pump management and safe medication administration
- Telemetry strip interpretation (Mindray monitors)
- Drip titration protocols and vasoactive medication management
- Respiratory equipment and treatments, including Hamilton C1 ventilator
- Charting and documentation in MEDITECH
- Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and float to ER when needed
- Strong teamwork, communication, and patient-centered care approach
- Experience in or appreciation for critical access hospital environments
