Travelers will be required to provide care for Med-Surg patients across multiple areas. Patient types range from general medical-surgical patients to those recovering from orthopedic, neuro, and cardiac procedures. The nursing staff will care for a diverse patient population with various conditions, including oncology and outpatient infusions. On the general medical-surgical unit, the workload includes managing patients with cellulitis, GI bleeds, CHF, and COPD. On the orthopedic/neuro observation unit, nurses will care for patients with chest pain, dizziness, and post-operative orthopedic and neurological conditions. The cardiac unit requires managing post-procedural patients as well as those with heart failure and arrhythmias. Patient ratios will typically be 1:4-6 during the day and 1:6-7 at night. Nurses will have access to support staff, including charge nurses and health unit coordinators. Phlebotomy services are available for peripheral lab draws. Remote telemonitoring support is provided, with potential patient monitoring responsibilities. The facility fosters a traveler-friendly culture with a strong emphasis on teamwork. Nurses may be expected to work holidays, with the potential for holiday shifts at a 50% rate during the contract period. Schedule preferences may be considered, acknowledging that the final schedule is provided two weeks in advance. Attire should consist of professional solid color scrubs, free from graphics or logos.
