Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical-Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 1 year License: RN License required Certifications: BLS required Must-Have: - Chest tube management - Stable trach management (preferred) - IV skills - Port/central line knowledge - Familiarity with CPAP/BiPAP/Airvo Description: Med/Surg unit with a patient ratio of 4-5 during the day, 4-6 during PM/Evening shifts, and up to 6 overnight. Patient types include surgical patients from bowel and GU surgeries, as well as those with cellulitis, GI bleeds, CHF, and overflow patients. Outpatient infusions for antibiotics and fluids are also managed. No chemotherapy certification is needed. Support on the unit includes Certified Nursing Assistants with a ratio of 1:4-5 during the day, 1:6 during evening shifts, and 1:8 overnight. Charge nurse takes a partial assignment. Phlebotomy services are available, and RNs will draw from central lines. Additional support includes respiratory therapists available 24/7 and a hospitalist on-site 24/7. Rapid response teams and code blue teams are also part of the support system. Occupational, physical, and speech therapy are available during weekdays with limited coverage on weekends. Charting system in use is Epic. There is a requirement for floating to other medical-surgical units and emergency department holds. Weekend rotation will be required every other weekend. Call is not required but can be arranged if interested. Holiday work is expected every other holiday. Scrub colors must be professional.
