Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience License: Required Certifications: BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Experience in MS/PCU/Tele or CCU Description: No blocked scheduling requests. The unit has 34 beds. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5 during the day and 1:6 at night. Required certifications include BLS and NIHSS. Common diagnoses include pneumonia, COPD, CHF, orthopedic cases (shoulders, hips, knees), appendicitis, cholecystectomy, diverticulitis, bowel resection, and pancreatitis. Nurses are not required to titrate drips. Charge nurses are available on both shifts, and a supervisor is available nights. Patient care technicians are present on both shifts with a maximum ratio of 1:12. Chronic BiPAP and CPAP equipment are available. Remote tele monitoring is utilized with monitor technicians providing analysis. Nurses are not responsible for ECG strip interpretation. Self-scheduling is allowed based on census and staffing availability. Weekend rotations require 4 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule. Holiday requirements are based on the calendar. If shifts are canceled, there may be a call requirement with 45-minute response following notification per policy. Floating may be required within the scope of practice. Scrub color is navy blue. There is one shift of clinical nursing education followed by two shifts with a preceptor. Cancellation policy allows for up to two shift cancellations per 13-week contract due to census. The charting system is Cerner. A BSN is not required. This is an acute care setting.
