Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (18:45 - 07:15) Experience: Minimum 2 years in an inpatient setting; first-time travelers accepted License: Valid nursing license required Certifications: BLS, chemotherapy certification preferred Must-Have: Experience in medical-surgical nursing Colostomy care Accessing ports Blood product administration Central line blood draw Peripheral line care/management PICC line management Heparin and insulin administration Management of surgical drains and chest tubes Nasal cannula and non-invasive airway management Isolation precautions Wound care and wound vac management Description: This position is for a medical-surgical nurse who will primarily care for patients with oncology histories. The target nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:6. Floating to similar units and alternate care locations will be required. Every other weekend work is mandatory. Contract staff may be required to work in response to catastrophic events, mass casualty situations, or disasters. The daily patient census averages 42. During periods of increased patient load, the nurse-to-patient ratios may rise. Contract staff will be equally assigned to collaborate with home unit staff to ensure patient care needs are met. Chemotherapy and biotherapy administration is part of the job. Patient diagnoses may include AKI, sepsis, cancer, and diabetic foot ulcers. Contract staff must be available for make-up shifts if initially scheduled shifts are canceled. Attendance at monthly staff meetings is expected. Candidate must complete required testing prior to the start of the assignment. Travel and flexibility to float within the facility are essential for this role. All requested days off must be pre-approved, and any additional time off requests post-signing are not permitted. Candidates should be prepared for the responsibilities and challenges presented within a medical-surgical setting.
