Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years experience preferred; first-time travelers accepted. License: Active RN license Certifications: BLS required; Oncology certification preferred; must be able to administer chemotherapy if needed. Must-Have: Experience in an inpatient setting, Med/Surg nursing skills, and familiarity with colostomy care, accessing ports, blood product administration, and central line care. Description: RTO after booking is not allowed and must not be worked out onsite. Any call-offs or additional RTO on unit could possibly turn into a cancellation. The manager is looking for skilled RNs for this medical surgical/oncology unit. Experience in peripheral line care/management, PICC line management, administration of heparin and insulin, surgical drains, and chest tubes is necessary. Knowledge of isolation precautions and wound care required. Primarily caring for medical-surgical patients with an oncology history. Expected patient ratios of 1:6. Call and weekend requirements apply. Contract staff may be required to respond to catastrophic events or disasters. The daily census is expected to be around 42 patients. Responsibilities may include floating to similar units as needed. Attendance at monthly staff meetings is required. Clinical systems in use include medication and documentation systems. Daily responsibilities may include administering chemotherapy/biotherapy through various methods. Experience in managing dysrhythmias and oxygen administration is beneficial. Must demonstrate skills in accessing and managing ports, and monitoring chemotherapy. The staff will work closely with interdisciplinary support teams. Contract staff may be expected to care for patients impacted by COVID-19 during their assignment. Flexibility in availability and teamwork is essential for this role.
