Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years in an inpatient setting License: Active nursing license required Certifications: BLS, Oncology certification preferred Must-Have: Experience in Med/Surg Colostomy care Accessing ports Blood product administration Central line blood draw Peripheral line care/management PICC line management Heparin and insulin administration Surgical drains Chest tubes Nasal cannula Non-invasive airway management Isolation precautions Wound care/Wound Vac Description: This position requires skilled registered nurses for a medical surgical/oncology unit. The primary patient population consists of medical-surgical patients with an oncology history. The nurse to patient ratio is targeted at 1:6. Staff will float to similar units as needed. Call is required for prescheduled shifts if called off. Every other weekend is required. Contract staff may be assigned to a storm team and must be willing to work during catastrophic events. Daily census for the unit is 42. The registered nurse must provide care for patients with diagnoses including AKI, sepsis, cancer, and septic shock. Contract staff will be assigned equally with home unit staff to ensure all patients are covered. Attendance to monthly staff meetings is expected. All essential skills in medication administration and patient care management are required. Additional responsibilities include managing chemotherapy administration IV, PO, or injection. Proper documentation and communication systems must be utilized for medication and patient care. The nurse must be willing to work shifts and make up shifts if called out.
