Job Details
  • Position: Registered Nurse – Medical-Surgical (Med Surg)

  • Location: Calais

  • Contract Length: 13 Weeks

  • Shift: Night Shift

  • Schedule: 3x12

  • Experience Required: 2 Years

  • Weekly Pay: $2020 to $2220

Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with a variety of medical and surgical conditions.

  • Perform detailed patient assessments and monitor changes in patient condition throughout hospitalization.

  • Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and prescribed treatments accurately and safely.

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.

  • Monitor vital signs, laboratory results, pain levels, and overall patient progress.

  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, pharmacists, case managers, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care.

  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, recovery expectations, and discharge instructions.

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).

  • Ensure compliance with infection prevention, patient safety, and quality care standards.

  • Respond effectively to changes in patient condition and medical emergencies.

  • Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care while promoting comfort, recovery, and positive patient outcomes.

Requirements
  • Active Maine Registered Nurse (RN) License or compact/multistate license (if applicable).

  • Minimum 2 years of recent Medical-Surgical nursing experience.

  • Current BLS Certification required.

  • ACLS Certification preferred.

  • Strong assessment, clinical judgment, and prioritization skills.

  • Experience caring for post-operative, medical, and complex adult patients.

  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient education abilities.

  • Experience using electronic medical record (EMR) systems preferred.

  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced inpatient environment.

  • Commitment to delivering exceptional patient-centered care.
