Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 17 weeks Shift: 12-hour days, Thursday-Saturday or Friday-Sunday Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience, including 1 travel assignment or 4 years of experience without travel. License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, ASLS, NIHSS (for ICU/ED), BLS, ASLS or NIHSS (for Med/Surg) Must-Have: C-section experience required Description: This position involves working in a labor pool for medical surgical nursing. The typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:6. Nurse aides are available, generally at a ratio of 1:8 to 1:10, and there may be instances requiring 1:1 care or sitters. Weekend requirements are every other weekend. On-call requirements are low Census. Holiday rotations are shared with permanent staff. The scrub color for nurses is Caribbean blue. Patients may be monitored on different units. Ventilation experience includes BIPAP, CPAP, and vapotherm. There is a pediatrician and neonatologist available on-site. An intravenous team is not present, but a patient information and care resource team is available 24/7. Pharmacy services are also available 24/7. Shifts begin at 0645 and are 12 hours long. Flexibility for changing assignments during the shift is necessary. Floating to other areas such as orthopedics, neurology, oncology, and acute care may occur. Common diagnoses and types of patients will vary throughout the unit.
