Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Observation Unit (MedSurg) Duration: 17 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Yes Certifications: BLS Certification, NIHSS Must-Have: Common titratable and/or set rate drips; experience in a fast-paced, high turnover environment Description: The position is for a Registered Nurse in an Observation Unit with a focus on Medical Surgical patients. The unit has 22 beds with patient ratios of 1:5 or 1:6. Charges nurses are required to occasionally take an assignment with patients. There are CNA staff available to assist on the unit, depending on patient load. The environment is fast-paced, with up to 16 discharges or admissions daily. Registered Nurses will perform their own EKGs and draw labs. This is a heavy telemetry unit, monitored by central monitoring. Weekends are required every other weekend, with holiday shifts rotating with permanent staff. Floating to medical surgical units may be necessary. The dress code includes Caribbean Blue tops and bottoms, or all white. Experience with specific drips, like Heparin, is preferred. The role involves dealing with miscellaneous medical observations in an acute care setting. This unit does not utilize ventilators but does have respiratory equipment for CPAP and BiPAP. Candidates should be prepared for a dynamic working environment. Strong organizational and clinical skills will be essential for success in this role.
