Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Med Surg Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 19:00-07:00 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in medical/surgical nursing License: Active nursing license in good standing (with compact if indicated) Certifications: BLS required, ACLS preferred, current NIH (must be certified annually) Must-Have: Telemetry experience, post-Percutaneous Coronary Intervention experience Description: We are seeking an experienced registered nurse for a medical/surgical unit. The unit has a capacity of 46 beds with a patient ratio of 6:1. Staffing includes clinical nurse coordinators, RNs, LPNs, PCTs, nurse externs, and unit clerks, based on patient census. The equipment used includes GE Apex Pro telemetry boxes, Hoyer lifts, Baxter IV pumps, and Welch Allen vitals machines. The documentation system utilized is Meditech Expanse. Scheduling requires working every other weekend with three 12-hour shifts per week. Floating to other units may be required based on staffing needs. Successful candidates must possess general medical/surgical skills, EKG interpretation, CPAP management, and port access. Preferred advanced skills include chest tubes, NG tubes, wound vacs, drains, post-dialysis assessment skills, central lines, and blood transfusions. Common procedures performed include telemetry monitoring and paracentesis. The dress code consists of navy blue or gray scrubs, with specific requirements on colors for identification purposes. The unit has a culture of excellence with numerous awards and recognitions for outstanding patient care. Teamwork is emphasized, and staff are encouraged to communicate openly and share their suggestions for workflow improvements.
