They ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized high quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders. This practice is supported through a shared governance model. The framework for practice is guided by a professional practice model and evidence-based practice and research. RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by core values. It is expected that all RN Clinical Nurses are licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the practice of nursing. They implement the scope of practice and code of ethics standards outlined by relevant nursing associations. As a member of the patient services team, the individual upholds the voice of the patient. They adhere to system policies and procedures while supporting service excellence goals. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions: A. Exemplary Practice and Outcomes - Performs the Nursing Process including assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, and evaluation. - Uses evidence-based practice and analytical/critical thinking to ensure that care is individualized. - Coordinates care through effective partnerships, recognizing that caring is central to achieving optimal patient care outcomes. - Provides relationship-based patient-centered care consistent with population-specific characteristics. - Engages in cultural diversity in service delivery. - Partners with patients and significant others using appropriate methods for setting and purpose. - Keeps patients and significant others updated, making the patient’s goals the focus of the plan of care. - Practices using current clinical practice standards. B. Teamwork and Collaboration - Coordinates the delivery and documentation of safe quality patient care. - Promotes a professional care delivery model. - Utilizes diverse and inclusive interdisciplinary communication methods. - Completes timely documentation and fosters a respectful, inclusive clinical environment. - Demonstrates teamwork and collaboration in a fiscally responsible manner. - Supports performance improvement inclusive of all stakeholders. - Participates in research and research utilization to promote safe, quality patient care. - Leads activities that promote inter/intra-disciplinary processes and supports shared governance. C. Professional Development and Initiative - Completes all initial and ongoing professional competency assessments. - Engages in required mandatory education and population-specific education. - Serves as a preceptor and/or mentor for other professional nurses and staff. D. Evidence-Based Practice and Research - Promotes evidence-based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement. - Participates in value analysis as part of the decision-making process. - Upholds organizational policies and procedures, ensuring legal and regulatory compliance. - Participates in data collection, posing relevant clinical questions. - Consults appropriate experts and utilizes resources and evidence to address practice questions.
