They ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized high-quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders. The practice is supported through a shared governance model. The framework for practice is guided by a professional practice model and evidence-based practice and research. RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by core values. All RN Clinical Nurses are expected to be licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the state’s professional nurse practice act. Collaborate with patients and significant others in setting care goals and keeping them informed. Practice using current clinical standards. Teamwork and Collaboration: Coordinate the delivery and documentation of safe quality patient care. Participate in interdisciplinary communication methods and complete timely documentation. Demonstrate teamwork and collaboration by promoting a respectful clinical environment. Support performance improvement initiatives to promote safe, quality patient care. Actively participate in shared governance at all levels. Professional Development and Initiative: Complete all initial and ongoing professional competency assessments. Serve as a preceptor or mentor for other professional nurses to ensure a qualified workforce. Evidence-Based Practice and Research: Promote evidence-based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement in nursing.
