The patient population includes surgical cases, gunshot victims, quadriplegics, and paraplegics. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 5:1. There will be support staff, including Nursing Support Technicians and phlebotomists. A unit secretary will be present during night shifts. Nurse handoffs will be conducted with the emergency department nurse and the admitting unit. Candidates must be flexible with available shifts as block scheduling is not offered.
