Job Title: ICU Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12-Hour Day/Night Rotate Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years ICU experience plus 1 year travel experience License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Cerner experience - Ability to titrate drips - Proficient in rhythm interpretation Description: The ICU unit has 16 beds with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:2, and 1:1 for higher acuity patients. Common diagnoses include respiratory issues, strokes, neurological conditions, gastrointestinal disorders, and cardiac issues. Nurses are required to titrate various drips, including but not limited to propofol, precedex, and vasopressors. There is a nurse aide on the unit to support the nursing staff. Pulmonologists are in-house with teams of residents during daytime hours, and there is coverage overnight. Respiratory Therapy is available 24/7. Nurses are responsible for reading their own telemetry strips and must be adept at rhythm interpretation. Shifts follow a rotation of 0700-1930 and 1900-0730, with self-scheduling allowed but cannot guarantee block scheduling. Weekend requirements are every other or every third weekend based on scheduling needs. Holiday requirements include every other holiday with additional opportunities available. There is no call or standby requirement. Agency staff may float to similar units or serve as patient observers within the facility. Dress code is professional and clean with no specific color requirements. Orientation includes one day of hospital orientation followed by two days in-unit orientation.
