Job Title: RN ICU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM) Experience: 2+ years of adult ICU experience License: Active RN License Certifications: AHA BLS & ACLS, Telemetry competency Must-Have: - 2 years of continuous Medical Intensive Care Unit experience required - Ability to read telemetry strips Description: This position involves working in a Level III Trauma Center Intensive Care Unit. The unit has 20 beds dedicated to Medical/Surgical ICU care. Patients may present with a wide range of diagnoses, including substance abuse, severe psychiatric conditions, DKA, sepsis, GI bleed, respiratory failure, cardiac arrest, renal failure, and cardiogenic shock. Attendings and residents are present in the ICU 24 hours a day. The RN to patient ratio is 1:2 or 1:1 with high acuity; 1:4 or 1:5 when floated to other Medical/Surgical areas. Floating between units is required, mostly to Medical/Surgical units, with the possibility of caring for up to 4 or 5 patients. Rotating shifts are required for day positions. Night shift does not rotate. Charting is done using an electronic medical record system.
