Job Title: ICU Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in ICU License: Active RN license Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: Active RN license ACLS certification BLS certification ICU experience Description: The unit has a total of 31 beds. Patient ratios are typically 2:1, with occasional 1:1 or 3:1 assignments based on acuity and staffing. A unit secretary is staffed during dayshift. There may be an occasional nurse extern working as a tech. Equipment used in the unit includes ventilators, EVDs, CRRT, SLED, and EV 1000. The documentation system in use is Meditech. Scheduling requires a minimum of four weekend shifts per schedule. The schedule is arranged in 4-week increments with some self-scheduling options. The manager is responsible for shifting schedules to maintain balance. Contract labor is the first to float if staffing needs arise. If there is a staffing requirement in other areas, contract labor is expected to float and accept the assignment. Staff members are expected to provide attentive and compassionate care to both patients and their families. Preferred skills include advanced procedures such as insertion of central lines, arterial lines, lumbar punctures, chest tubes, and EVDs.
