Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience required License: Valid state license required, pending licenses accepted Certifications: BLS, ACLS required Must-Have: Epic experience required Charge experience preferred and trauma level 1 experience required Description: The Medical Intensive Care Unit serves a patient population primarily experiencing multi-system failure and co-morbid conditions. Common diagnoses include sepsis, pneumonia, gastrointestinal bleed, and organ failure. The unit has recently expanded to include a larger intensive care capacity. Patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:2 during night shifts. Nurses will work 36 or 48 hours per week, with shifts scheduled every other weekend and holiday. Time off around holidays may be restricted. BLS and ACLS certifications are mandatory. Nurses must adhere to the facility's floating policy. Level 1 experience is required. Nurses must have experience with the Epic charting system. Skills required include arterial line management, ventilator management, and management of dysrhythmias. Additional skills needed include central line care, blood product administration, and emergency medication administration. Experience with patient care in critical settings and knowledge of infection prevention protocols is also essential. Candidates are expected to float within their scope of practice as needed. References will be required upon request. Nurses should be prepared to participate in special procedures as needed, including intubation and conscious sedation. Nurses will work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to provide comprehensive patient care.
