Travel Nurse RN - Med/Surg / Telemetry in Winston-Salem, NC

Key Responsibilities Provide direct patient care on a 42-bed Medical Surgical / Telemetry unit with a primary focus on stroke, neurosurgery, epilepsy, traumatic and non-traumatic subdural hematomas, and other neurological diagnoses. Work every other weekend as required and participate in float assignments to other Med/Surg and Telemetry areas, which may include COVID care units.

Contract | 13 weeks or longer | 12-Hour Night Shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | 36 or 48 hours per week | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 42-bed Medical Surgical / Telemetry unit with a primary focus on stroke, neurosurgery, epilepsy, traumatic and non-traumatic subdural hematomas, and other neurological diagnoses
• Monitor, interpret, and manage cardiac dysrhythmias via continuous telemetry
• Perform IV starts and administer medications in accordance with unit protocols
• Document patient care accurately using EPIC, PYXIS, and SBAR communication frameworks
• Work every other weekend as required and participate in float assignments to other Med/Surg and Telemetry areas, which may include COVID care units
• Make up any missed shifts within the same week or by the end of the contract per unit scheduling policy

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in North Carolina or a Compact state license
• Minimum of 2 years of RN experience, including at least 1 year of direct Med/Surg experience
• Minimum of 2 successfully completed travel contracts (first-time travelers will not be considered)
• Demonstrated experience with IV insertion, telemetry monitoring, and interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Med/Surg Neuro experience required
• Current BCLS, NIH, and NIHSS certifications
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Current ACLS certification
• Prior experience in a neuro-focused Med/Surg or Telemetry setting
