Job Title

Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry

Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care on a Medical Telemetry unit managing diagnoses including chest pain, CAD, COPD exacerbation, stroke/TIA, atrial fibrillation, GI bleed, and wound infections
  • Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry and manage dysrhythmias, including rhythm management with cardiac drips (non-titrated for blood pressure)
  • Care for pre- and post-angiogram/angioplasty patients; assist with procedures including PPM/AICD, chest tubes, thoracentesis, paracentesis, and general surgical cases
  • Operate and manage specialized equipment including telemetry monitoring systems, chest tubes, and wound VACs
  • Participate in unit-level emergency response protocols as directed by unit management in the event of a declared emergency
Required Qualifications
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Compact or Louisiana license required and must be in hand at time of submittal
  • Minimum 2 years of acute care experience in Medical Surgical / Telemetry specialty
  • Current BLS certification (AHA required)
  • Telemetry experience with demonstrated ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias
  • NURSYS report required and must be current within 4 weeks of submission date
  • Must reside more than 65 miles from the facility (as verified by address on driver's license)
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Current ACLS certification (AHA required)
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Prior travel nursing experience (first-time travelers are accepted)
