Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical / Telemetry unit, managing a patient population that includes diagnoses such as colon cancer, intestinal obstructions, breast cancer, morbid obesity, cholecystitis, and appendicitis
Perform phlebotomy and peripheral IV placement as mandatory clinical competencies
Monitor, interpret, and manage cardiac dysrhythmias and respond appropriately using Rapid Response Teams when indicated
Manage oxygen delivery systems including nasal cannula, face masks, and portable oxygen tanks, and apply non-invasive airway management techniques
Maintain peripheral line care, adhere to isolation precautions, and collaborate with PCT staff who perform vital signs, blood glucose checks, EKGs, and activities of daily living
Float within scope to like units as needed to meet facility staffing needs
Required Qualifications
Active, unencumbered New York State RN license (must be in hand at time of submission; pending licenses are not accepted)
Minimum of 1 year of RN experience in Medical Surgical / Telemetry
BLS certification required
Proficiency in Epic electronic health records (hard requirement)
Demonstrated competency in phlebotomy and peripheral IV insertion
Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility
Preferred Experience / Skills
Prior travel nursing experience in a Medical Surgical or Telemetry setting
Familiarity with Rapid Response Team protocols and advanced telemetry monitoring
Experience caring for oncology or surgical patient populations
