Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 16 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Active nursing license required Certifications: BLS; NIHSS preferred, ACLS preferred Must-Have: Traveler experience accepted; unit accepts first-time travelers Ability to work holidays Open to floating within or near facility Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse in the Medical-Surgical/Telemetry specialty. The nurse will work night shifts, 4 times per week, for 12 hours each. The role requires a minimum of 2 years of nursing experience. Registered Nurses must be proficient in Med/Surg and MS/Tele practices. The position involves interpretation and management of dysrhythmias. Telemetry experience including remote monitoring is required. Candidates should be skilled in bowel obstruction management, colostomy and ileostomy care, and feeding tube management. Pre and post hemodialysis management experience is necessary. The nurse will manage renal failure and blood product administration. Central line blood draw and peripheral line care skills are required. Phlebotomy and PICC line management experience is essential. Starting and maintaining IVs including heparin, insulin, and PCA management is expected. Chest tube management experience is necessary. Candidates should be proficient in non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, and oxygen administration. Knowledge of isolation precautions and wound care is required. Additional preferred skills include ACLS certification, telemetry on-unit monitoring, and post-angiogram care. Experience with post-cardiac surgery and post-myocardial infarction management is beneficial. Experience with IV insulin protocols, bariatric surgery, continuous bladder irrigation, and interpretation of arterial blood gases is preferred. Applicants should have previous charge experience and familiarity with electronic documentation. The patient demographic includes adults and geriatrics with diverse diagnoses. The nurse will work with interdisciplinary support staff including physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services. Candidates must be prepared to participate in storm and hurricane response teams as needed during emergencies. This role necessitates flexible scheduling and willingness to work weekends.
