Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Current nursing license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience - Telemetry skills, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias - Experience with high-acuity patients Description: This position is located within a holding unit for patients who are waiting for an inpatient bed. Patients may have various medical and surgical diagnoses. Candidates may also encounter patients requiring progressive care unit (PCU) level care. Nurses are expected to provide care for medical-surgical and telemetry cases, as well as float to emergency department and medical-surgical areas as necessary. Patient ratios target 1:6 for medical-surgical and 1:4 for PCU level patients. Nurses may be expected to work every other weekend. The role involves potential participation in a storm team or hurricane team. Candidates should be prepared to report to work during events such as natural disasters or mass casualties. The unit aims to provide high-quality care for adult patients with medical/surgical diagnoses. Standard medical equipment, including cardiac monitors and IV pumps, will be used in this role. Nurses will utilize electronic health record systems for documentation and communication. Candidates must be open to floating to various areas within the facility as required. The position requires adherence to infection control protocols and safety practices, including the management of central lines, IVs, and various medical equipment. Travelers with a history of charge nurse experience are preferred.
