Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year in Medical-Surgical/Telemetry License: Current Registered Nurse License Certifications: ACLS BLS NIHSS Must-Have: 1 year of EPIC experience Charge experience Description: Shift: 3x12 or 4x12 Nights from 19:00 to 07:30. Weekend coverage is required every other weekend but may change based on need. Floating is required to other similar units or nearby facilities. Must have experience in telemetry and medical-surgical nursing. Current traveler status is not being reviewed for first-time travelers. Patient ratios are typically five patients per nurse. Daily census ranges from 20 to 30 patients. This unit actively supports collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. Common patient diagnoses include respiratory failure, COPD, pulmonary edema, hypoxia, sepsis, and weakness. Nurses will be responsible for monitoring telemetry and administering medications as needed. Skills required include central line care, feeding tube management, interpretation of dysrhythmias, isolation precautions, and wound care. Travelers must float to other units if necessary and will only float to units for which they are qualified. Completion of mandatory pre-assignment testing and modules is required prior to the start of the contract. Modules are billable up to 16 hours and will be verified upon start of the contract. Travelers must be located a minimum of 100 miles from the facility to be eligible for travel assignments. A minimum of six months separation is required after working three consecutive contracts before returning as a traveler.
