Summary: The Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) delivers comprehensive nursing care to patients with a wide range of acute and chronic conditions, including those requiring cardiac monitoring. Working in a fast-paced clinical setting, this role involves assessing patient health status, implementing individualized care plans, monitoring telemetry data, and coordinating with interdisciplinary teams to promote optimal outcomes. The RN demonstrates strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, effective communication, and a commitment to safe, patient-centered care. Key Responsibilities: Conduct thorough patient assessments and develop care plans based on clinical findings and patient needs Monitor cardiac rhythms via telemetry equipment and promptly report and respond to abnormalities Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and established nursing protocols Evaluate patient progress and adjust care plans as appropriate Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, procedures, and post-discharge care Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic medical record (EMR) systems Promote patient safety by adhering to infection control practices and hospital policies Assist with procedures and support diagnostic testing as needed Respond appropriately to changes in patient condition, including emergencies Support discharge planning and continuity of care initiatives Perform additional duties within scope of practice as assigned Required Skills & Qualifications: Strong critical thinking, organizational, and communication skills Ability to provide compassionate, patient-focused care in a team-oriented environment Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and demonstrate basic computer competency Physical Requirements: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, assist with patient mobility, and lift or move equipment and/or patients weighing 50–100 lbs; includes pushing, pulling, and bending Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary team members while maintaining professionalism Technical Skills: Competence in telemetry monitoring, medication administration, and use of medical equipment; ability to perform fine motor tasks Mental Demands: Ability to manage multiple patients, adapt to changing priorities, and maintain focus in a fast-paced environment Sensory Requirements: Adequate visual acuity to interpret monitors and documentation, along with clear verbal communication skills
