The unit features 17 patient rooms divided into zones for testing various room designs and processes. The primary patient population consists of adult medical-surgical patients. The unit does not cater to labor and delivery or pediatrics. The nursing model is based on primary nursing care, where one RN is assigned to a group of patients. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4-5 during the day and 1:5-6 at night. Current projects include virtual nursing, remote monitoring, and an interactive patient experience platform. Innovative facility designs feature modular walls, ceiling lifts, and more. Frequent floating to various hospital units is required to meet staffing needs. Travelers must be prepared to float as needed. RNs are expected to manage drips and patient care across diverse medical scenarios. Weekend shifts require coverage for four weekends out of eight possible in a four-week period. Mandatory compliance with facility policies includes a nicotine-free environment. Travelers must work a minimum of two of three major holidays. Requests for time off must be submitted with applications, and additional requests are subject to manager discretion.
