Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 or 26 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years in a large, urban hospital License: Must have a valid nursing license Certifications: BLS required, ACLS and CPI preferred Must-Have: - EPIC charting experience - Ability to float between units as needed - Comfort in caring for behavioral health patient populations Description: This position offers either a 36 or 48-hour option for workweeks. Registered Nurses must be prepared to float frequently to meet the staffing needs of the facility. This is a 20-bed general medical-surgical and telemetry unit that manages a variety of patient diagnoses. Patients may include those recovering from total knee and hip replacements, complex orthopedic cases, and various medical conditions. The unit has a secured floor for patients with underlying behavioral health conditions which may include individuals flagged as violent. Travelers will receive training for safety and de-escalation techniques. Ratios are generally 1:5 during the day and 1:6 at night, with rare occasions of 1:7 at night. RNs must be comfortable managing drips and utilizing EPIC charting. The role may involve floating to different units within the facility as necessary. Weekend coverage requires four shifts out of eight possible in a four-week period, specifically on Fridays and Saturdays. Travelers must work two out of three major holidays in the contract year. This is a nicotine-free facility. Local candidates will not be considered for this position. Proof of licensure must be submitted prior to start, with no time-off requests approved during the first week of employment. RNs are required to wear designated scrubs as specified by the facility. Professional interdisciplinary support will be available in the unit. Candidates must be prepared for a diverse patient population, including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Training in specific equipment handling and medication administration protocols will be required.
